About Us
North Solihull Singers happened by accident. Kris Byrne, the choir’s founder and director was using Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church Centre back in 2006 as a rehearsal venue for a big musical project he had written with his long time collaborator and best friend Chris Davis, under the guise of KC Productions. He then happen to let slip during a conversation with Neil Roberts (minister) and a church member that one day he would like to start a community choir, to give local people the opportunity to sing. Next thing you know, we were arranging the first rehearsal. Like most projects, it started off small, with no more than 8 members for several months (one of those only popped down to the church to speak to someone else… he is still a member!).
Over time, membership has grown, and has reached over 30. The choir now has members from all over the West Midlands and further afield. We hold a strict no audition policy, with a minimum age of 16 and no maximum age!
They rehearse every Tuesday evening at Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church Arts and Community Centre between 7:45pm and 10:00pm.
